All Defibtech Automated External Defibrillators (AEDs) are backed by an 8-year manufacturer warranty, ensuring long-term reliability and peace of mind. Defibtech batteries are covered for 4 years, providing dependable power when it matters most, while electrode pads and accessories include a 12-month warranty.
Maintenance and Ownership
How often do I need to replace the battery? Defibtech AEDs use long-life lithium batteries lasting up to 4, 5 or 7 years depending on the model. The AED will alert you with a visual and audible signal when the battery needs replacing.
How often should I replace the pads? Electrode pads must be replaced every two years or after each use. This ensures the gel remains conductive and the pads adhere properly.
How do I know if my AED is ready for use? Defibtech AEDs perform automatic self-tests daily. If there’s an issue, the device will emit a loud chirp and flash a red status indicator to alert you.
Do AEDs need regular servicing? No formal servicing is required beyond replacing pads and batteries as needed. However, a quick visual check during routine safety inspections is always recommended.
When do I run a manual self-test? Manual self-tests are only required after each use (when a shock is delivered). Manually self-tests are not required as part of routine maintenance.

Compliance and Safety
Are Defibtech AEDs approved for use in the UK? Yes. All Defibtech AEDs are CE-marked and fully compliant with the UK Medical Device Regulations (UK MDR).
Where should an AED be installed? AEDs should be easily accessible and visible in high-traffic areas—such as reception desks, corridors, sports facilities, or community halls. Many organisations also place them outside in weatherproof cabinets for 24/7 public access.
What should I do after using an AED? Replace the used pads, check the battery, and download the event data if required (your distributor can help). Then return the device to its normal ready-to-use state.
